I
first have to state that I have no where near the knowledge that Dave
has when it come to the individual players, so I am deferring to his
wisdom in regards to this draft (see Dave - May 2,
2006). I will admit that I did not watch all of the second
round and only bits and pieces of the rest of the rounds due to a
honey-do list that is longer than my right
arm. So much of my reactions is based upon four inputs; Dave,
fans from around the league, the pundits, and my general sense of
the our needs.
So how does the old Rude Dude feel about the 49ers 2006 Draft?
Ah, thanks for asking.
I liked this draft, I am giving it a high B. Well done Coach
Nolan and the props to your staff.
Now I am not sure if any of these player will become stars, but at
least I feel that Vernon Davis gives Alex Smith a legitimate
target. On defense the
49ers drafted Manny Lawson also in the first round. Once again, I
was happy because we where attempting to fill a huge need on our
defense. Overall impression on the drafted players is that the
49ers got fast - and speed is good - for players - not drugs.
So I will allow defer to Dave on the rest of the players.
I was happy to see that most of the 49ers fans are reacting well this
draft, a few fans of other teams have expressed positive reactions, the
so call experts have given the 49ers a good grade, so the old Rude Dude
is happy right now.
Does this mean everything is
hunky-dory in 49er land? Hell no! Where is my stadium
announcement? I have been waiting since July 2005, or did we all
forget Dr. Pork's promises in January 2005? Hey Dr. Pork; I waiting.
Now back to my honey-do list......
