Rude Dude

We are here for the Long Run

Halfway through this football season, this long, miserable season, I decided it would be more fun to be a madman then just mad.  And at my age, madness is a wonderful blessing.

So less than three weeks ago, DumpYork.com was started by five friends.  We are long-time Forty-Niner’ fans that believe Dr. John York is taking our beloved organization in the wrong direction.  Much to our surprise and amazement, DumpYork.com has struck a nerve with many of the Forty-Niner Faithful.  Reading through the postings and comments has awakened me to the depth of the concern and anger with the leadership of Dr. John York and his punch-drunk lackeys.

We have received numerous emails with excellent suggestion and ideas how we could enhance the site, promote the movement and how to be a thorn in Dr. York’s side. We have attempted to respond to each one, but are failing in this response effort.

We have also received a few emails telling us to do something better with our time or mentioning that we should get a life, and in the case of one blow-hard from KNBR, have been characterized as just another typical group of mindless angry fans.  - Hi Gary -

Well I respectfully disagree with these opinions. Ah fuck it; I could give a rat’s ass what these jokers say.  Long ago I got over any anxiety about trying to be cool or worrying what people think about me. Just ask my friends and more poor, long suffering wife.

On the site, we have almost 1,000 signatures in the Dump York Petition (It should be noted that one of our very first visitors, Scott P. from San Francisco, suggested the petition.  Thanks Scott!).  We have had over 8,500 unique hits on the web site with a 20% return rate.  There have been numerous newspaper and website articles written about the site.  I have experienced the joy and head shaking laughter of being been mentioned on local radio and was utterly amazed when Dave was interviewed by a radio station in Tampa Bay.

So where is DumpYork.com going and what are we thinking about?   Here are some of my thoughts.
  • I have been wrestling with the boycott issue and have decided that a boycott is really a last ditch effort.
  • Our group is not large enough to organize an effective boycott effort at this stage of the season.
  • We are still in the initial phase of growing this effort and the DumpYork.com community.
  • It might be more effective to use the last few games of this season as information providing time and growing the petition.
  • Watch to see how the Forty Niner organization moves in the off season, and then begin the marketing process of selling the boycott to the fan base that attends the games if we are not happy with that direction.
  • Use the rest of this season games to do “in stadium” protest.  Chants of “Dump York” would be excellent.
  • We need to get a detailed list of corporate sponsors.  That is where the real money for York lives.
  • There has been a suggestion of a ballot drive to encourage San Francisco  leaders to distance themselves from John York.

The effort at DumpYork.com is not one person, or a small group of people, it is all of us.  Let us not fool ourselves; we are not going to drive Dr. York to sell immediately.  This is a long term effort.  I guess we are all entering madness.

These are just some of my thoughts, your comments, suggestions or questions are always wanted.

Thank you and DUMP YORK!

T-Shirt Update

The shirts will start shipping next week (Nov 30th).  As of Monday, Nov 22, we have received seventy three paid orders.  The proceeds from the sales are going to be used to pay for the site and upgrading of the forums and guest books so that they will be commercial free.  (We are not accepting ads for the site.) Once those bills are paid off, the other proceeds are going to be used to finance free Dump York bumper stickers that we can pass out at the games and in sports bars throughout the Bay Area.  More details will be posted.

DumpYork.com will be at the Niners Dec 18th game.  Look for us in the parking lot.  Once we get that organized, we will post further info.
