John York must go!
According to John York's bio page on the 49ers Web Site,
"York’s drive to succeed is immeasurable. Since stepping into a
leadership role with the 49ers, York has had to handle a variety of
issues to clearly define the vision
and direction of the organization.
For example, simply look at how the 49ers rebounded from the crisis
that struck the organization in 1999, the first year the Yorks owned
the team. By putting together a highly successful senior management
team, led by Bill Walsh, John McVay and Terry Donahue, the 49ers went
from a 4-12 team with very little hope to a 12-4 Super Bowl contender
in just two seasons. Despite taking over a franchise that most media
pundits predicted would be a cellar dweller for at least five years,
the 49ers are 39-31 under York’s leadership."
Well gang, how about updating that record! As of November 7,
2004, York so-called leadership has posted a record of 41-50. By
the end of this season, the record could be a dismal 42 - 57. The
49ers have accomplished little this season, relying on young,
inexpensive players to play out the year while owner John York and
general manager Terry Donahue pursue their highly questionable plan to
solve San Francisco's salary cap woes.
