Nice of John and Denise to write,
but that letter to the editor of the Chronicle was nothing but a load of
bad cheese.
Our team is a community jewel?
An icon? And when did you figure that out, John? Last week?
Stop
patronizing us with this garbage. If you really want to make this right, then do
it. Sell the team to someone who cares about competing.
Yes, in fact,
actions do speak louder than words, and the trouble with writing a letter like
yours is that you seem to forget that your actions have been speaking all along.
Loudly. They've been saying that you care more about your money that you do
about competing. To try to deny that now after dismantling this once-great
franchise with your own hands is reprehensible.
And Denise--shame on you for
allowing your family's greatest jewel to become so tarnished, while anyone and
everyone who loved this team and came to embrace your family had to look
on.
No one expected a 2-14 season?
Really. Dr. York? When you lopped eight starters off the roster, you didn't
think a dismal season would result? You seem to have a talent for being
insulting and ridiculous at the same time. It seems to be strength of
yours.
Don't tell us you have a rebuilding plan in place when you don't.
Don't try to sell that you'll use the #1 pick to improve the roster. We've seen
what you do to rosters, and it's nothing close to "improvement." Without a
decent G.M. in place to help you, I shudder to think of the many ways in which
you could botch this.
Stop writing letters to the editor, and the fans
(even if they are free, as opposed to ads, which cost), and start making plans
to turn this beloved icon over to a group who'll run it properly. That's the
only chance you have for any football fan, Bay Area or otherwise, to remember
you at all well.
Quit spinning, quit patronizing, and quit wasting ink.
Just do the right thing-sell the team, Dr. York
