It was going good…for
a week
So we lost 42-3 to reigning NFC champs. It’s
not like they expected to win or even have a shot right? Well, maybe
not. Even Rude Dude couldn’t have gotten
drunk enough to take the 49ers last season against a team like the
Eagles. The 49ers also thought greatly of
Nolan after the 28-25 victory over the Rams, but now have some players
lost faith in Nolan after getting manhandled? We’ll have to see. The 49ers really caught the Rams of guard and
dug them in a hole they could not climb back out of in Week 1. The red-zone defense was what won it for the
49ers last week since the Rams beat them in every statistical category
besides TD’s. The niners even lost it near
the end of the game by not being able to rush for a first down and
having to punt it less than 2:00 minuets to play.
That is the 49er’s weakness, the run game. Which
is bad since that is what the Mike Nolan offense is to revolve around. Barlow is a terrible Running back, hopefully
Frank Gore can be a success. Barlow takes
about 20 steps per yard trying to juke the defense and always ends up
gaining little or nothing. Mike Nolan’s
needs to see this and be able to use the passing game more often
instead of the run.
I take the Eagles for example in there 42-3
Week 2 victory over the 49ers. McNabb
passed the ball frequently passing to 11 different teammates, but the
Eagles could still give the ball to Westbrook for 89 yards at 5.9 yards
per carry. The Eagle didn’t just shut down
Barlow almost every carry, but also intercepted Tim Ratty 3 times who
seemed to pass the ball behind receivers every time forcing them to
come back to the ball. Another thing that
won it for the 49ers against the Rams was the trick plays.
The 49ers only attempted on against the Eagles
the was used against the Rams and failed. Mike
McCarthy and Mike Nolan needed to pull something out of the hat to beat
a tuff Eagles D. Week 3 we face the
cowboys. I think the 49ers can get a win
here 17-14.
