Hunter's Shot

Alex Smith is our man

Alex Smith should be our #1 pick this draft.  First of all I immediately have to throw Rolle and Edwards out.  They are very talented, but the 49ers are at the lowest they could possibly be.  They need someone they can build there team around.  It’s much harder to build your team around a CB or WR because there not in control of the ball.

They need help in every position, but QB should be there pick.  Rattay seems to get injured whenever he puts pads on, Dorsey has no arm, and Pickett hasn’t done much, but he’ll probably just get picked.

So I’ve narrowed it down to 2 Alex Smith and Aaron Rodgers.  Smith is an inch or two taller than Rodgers.  Smith is much faster than he looks, he makes very good decisions with only 4 interceptions last season, he is very smart because he started college academically as a junior, is a great leader, and is very accurate.  He doesn’t flinch under pressure in the pocket and he stays calm, which he’ll need if he’s with the 49ers line.  The only thing working against Smith is his weight; he needs to put on 15-20 more lbs.

Rodgers is smaller than Smith so he won’t have as good of a view from the pocket.  He also holds the ball up very high which takes him a second longer to set it to throw.  He may also be behind smoke and mirrors because Tedford’s system made Boller look great and we all know how he’s doing now.

Alex Smith is the best choice.  He just needs a little time in the gym to bulk up.  Rodgers needs that and to grow an inch or two.
