I am part of the new generation of 49er fans. I
was born in 1989 the same year the 49ers beat the Bengals 20-16 in
Super Bowl XXIII. I was not alive when Dwight Clark made “The Catch”.
The Catch I know of was when T.O. caught a pass from Steve Young in the
front of the end zone against the Packers. I faintly remember the last
time the 49ers won a Super Bowl in 1995.
I have been brought up as a 49er fan. One of my first words was Jerry
Rice. Most of the 49er fans can look back and remember the good ol’
days of the 49ers with Montana, Clark, and Craig, but I’ve only seen
those on ESPN Classic.
If York doesn’t sell the team, maybe 20-30 years from now the new
generation of 49er fans will look back and talk about how the 49ers
beat the Giants in the playoffs because of an officials mistake, how
the 49ers got rid of a surprised Jeff Garcia who didn’t want to leave
the organization, or how the 49ers got first pick because they were the
worst team in the
league.
York needs to sell this organization so the 49ers will become the great
team they used to be. So fans like myself will remember the new good
ol’ days of the 49ers.
