GO NINERS!
My world has been reduced to champagne after a
simple Cody Pickett 3rd down conversion. How the mighty have fallen.
But boy did that champagne taste sweet on Sunday. In one of the worst
years imaginable, the wins have felt that much better. Nobody expected
a win against TB. Nobody! Yet for the first time this year, the coaches
came out with a strong game plan. The players executed it to
perfection. And really for the first time in two years, we actually
looked like a football team! What a concept!
Now as the champagne faded off into the distant memory, I am not sold
that this is the new world 49ers we are looking at. To me this was a
team with the right game plan catching an overrated team at the exact
right time. With a few more games under his belt, Simms could probably
beat us. But in his first start, the D did just enough to beat him. BY
was unbelievable. What a true pro. He could have quit years ago, but he
keeps on fighting and seemingly getting better! Watching BY dominate
the last two drives gave me goose bumps.
Hey, it will be a long year for the Niners. And like most, I think it
will be a long decade under the "greatness" of York. So when those few
great moments arrive, I will just sit back and enjoy them. They are way
too far and few between to treat them any other way. There will be
plenty of time to worry about how horrible this franchise really is.
For now, we may bask in the glory of our second win! Boy did it feel
good!
