Dave's Rants

Okay boys and girls, the season is upon us. If we are going to have a football website, time to start ranting again! Summer is over!

R U Ready for Some Football?!?!?!?!

Oh yeah! It is time to get fired up! The baseball season goes on and on, Lance has won yet another trophy in another country, tennis has cute ladies and Nascar is still making left turns. It's been a long summer! But the summer doldrums are about to end! Yes, training camps are opening as I type, and with that brings the promise of the greatest sport there is. Bring on the pigskin, it's football time!!!!!

And after a year to forget, what can be better than the optimism of training camp. Our first round pick is signed and rich, our new coaching staff is in place and inspired. At the start of camp, everybody has as good a chance as anybody to win the Super Bowl! And I nominate the Niners to bring home the trophy!

Okay, so now back to reality. Did anyone else miss the football season? I have been jonesing for it of late. Good, bad or ugly, I am ready to see the mighty Niners take the field in September. There are signs of hope. Let's give Dork credit for what he deserves. He caved to the public ridicule and dumped the previous administration. He has replaced them with a man on a mission, a man that seems to know what he is doing. Nolan may be just what the Niners need. He spent plenty of cash on a 21-year old, which may end up saving us or sinking us.

Of course there is the reality that York is still the owner of this sinking ship. Despite all the good publicity of Nolan and Smith, we had to endure a PR fiasco this off season of comic proportion. There are still no plans for a new stadium that was promised to us this off season. And try as I might to believe the Niners will return to greatness, I still live in fear that York will derail the Nolan train in the coming three years.

But for now, it is the birth of training camp and all the optimism that it brings. For right now, all I really care about is the return of football! May our team reach new heights, or at least escape the new lows. I am SOOOOO ready for some football!!!!!!
